ARNALDO J. APONTE
Arnaldo was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He obtained a Bachelor degree in Liberal Arts with a Minor in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. He also earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Indiana University School of Law—Bloomington.
He started his Legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in Seminole County, Florida. While at the Public Defender’s office, he rapidly ascended from the misdemeanor to the felony department and represented
defendants charged, theft, complex DUIs, drug possession, and sexual battery, among others.
In 2006, he went to work at the prestigious firm of Payas, Payas, and Payas, in Orlando, Florida. There, he continued defending people facing misdemeanors and felony charges.
In 2007, he founded his own law firm in Tavares, Lake County, Florida. His practice started as a criminal defense firm. However, the needs of the community have inspired him to expand and include the practice areas of immigration law.

CYNTHIA VEL- ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY
Cynthia was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Orlando, Florida. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work at the University of Central Florida. She received her Juris Doctor from Florida A&M University and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2015.
Before law school, Cynthia was active in the community, advocating for the needs of Central Florida’s elderly community as a social worker with Seniors First, Inc. Later,
she devoted her time to working with individuals battling substance abuse and addiction.
While in law school, Cynthia participated in several extracurricular activities including participating in the Hispanic National Bar Association’s 19th Annual Uvaldo Herrera Moot Court Competition and publishing an article discussing indigenous human rights in South America.
Cynthia’s hobbies include traveling and spending time with her family. She is a member of the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers.
Cynthia’s law practice at Arnaldo J. Aponte, P.A. focuses on family law. She is fluent in Spanish.
